When were you charged, did you go to court? Are the charges pending still? How is it that you were charged but knew nothing about it? Obviously you were arrested at some point, or a warrant was sworn out for your arrest?

I was arrested,I went to court and plea bargained to misdimeanor charges only, received three months probation. The problem is I tried to get a job with sears and when they did the background check it came back as a felony,I went to the courthouse and they gave me a printout that states these are misdimeanor charges.Do I need to have this error fixed and do I have that option?

If it is a clerical error, of course you have the right to have it corrected. I would return to the office that gave you the paper and point out the discrepency---(after checking with Sears first---for confirmation that they were given info that said FELONY---in writing---maybe someone there misunderstood) and ask the entity that gave you the printout who you need to see to correct it. It may be that SEARS was mistaken and just told you it was a felony charge when it really IS correct and says misdemeanor. Ask whomever is responsible for recording this information if it is possible it was reported that the original charges were felony and were pled down, and shows on your record as a felony pled down to a misdemeanor.

Good luck.
