TX-POCS dismissed, need it expunged

I'm in Texas, I'm trying to get into the Navy and need Security clearance. They don't want to give it to me if I have this type of charge on my record. Will expungement help me?

The POCS (Possession of Controlled Substance) was dismissed in 2001. They told me after 3 years I could get it expunged from my criminal record. How long would the whole process take? Any advice?

I will assume that because the case was dismissed that the Navy is having a problem with the arrest record for the POCS.

The purpose of Expungement is to wipe your record clean as if the incident never happened. Assuming you do get your record expunged then future employers for example, will not see that you were ever arrested.

I believe your situation may be eligible for expungement. Not being from Texas I don't know what specific court you would go to for this but I'm sure the criminal court in your area has a help desk or law library where you can ask questions regarding the appropriate forms to file. Standard procedure usually requires that you file a petition with the court. Some courts have standard forms but some require a petition that must be drawn up by you or your attorney.
