dangerous dog help

you probably don't get many people sending you emails that owned a dog that attacked another dog and is seeking advice. The summary of my story is: 2 years ago, I had a pitbull and an american bulldog. We went out to dinner one night and the pitbull scaled the fence of our yard and attacked a dog that was a constant nuisance to her. We immediately put her to sleep, as the responsible owners we tried to be, knowing that she was no longer a child's pet but not an animal killer for life. My problem is that the city tried to talk me into keeping her and when we refused they turned their sights on my other dog. The other dog was not in the yard and has bad hips and could never had done this. They city took pictures immediately following the incident and the pitbull was matted with blood and the american bulldog, who is all white, was not.Everything I have signed I have had to under the threat of jail time and I have received numerous fines. I told them I would not pay for another tag ntil I got the pictures so that I could appeal the case and I ended woth two more courtdates and a $500 fine, on top of the $500 tag. I have paid several thousands of dollars to keep this dog legal and he wasn't even there. The only choice I am faced with is to destroy this dog who is very well behaved and a huge part of my family that, with 4 children, had to deal wth the loss already of a dog that got along with all kinds of people and animals. We rescued another dog, an english bulldog, just so that he would have a partner because he was destraught after the loss of the other dog. Please help me. I know that I am the enemy and no one wants to give me advice because I am the OWNER of the dangerous dog, not the victim. But that dog is long dead and I AM now the victim. I would appreciate ANY HELP that anyone here can provide me in ANY WAY whther it be advice, a contact, or an underground doggie railroad to save my best bud. I beg of anyone here that has the smallest amount of info that would help me... please!!!!!!!
