threating email

this is my first post, so i am not sure how to ask questions or get help here. if someone could advise if it is not done right. My son and some friends for over a yr went sour. They started sending emails though the internet threating one another. Well these kids and my son use to spend a lot of time together, they work temp jobs together my son would stay over there house for days at a time. They air brushed and designed differetypes of t-shirts that they wore amongest themselvs. there argument started over 40.00 that was owed ither to my son or the other kids. The other kids start calling the house and because my son would not return there calls , they stopped then they started calling my cell ph and blocking the numbers. Then the next thing i know they started communicating though a message board on Mysapce.com. the kids called me one evening on my cell i was at work asked me if i had seen my son? I told him i was at work,and he hung up. The next call i get is from the police stating they needed to talk to my son in refrence to some emails being sent and threating the lives of others. and this was back in March. I had my son call and talk to the officer that called me and he asked my son a seris of questions and hung up, we did not hear any more on this subject until October 1,2005. My son was arrested and held on a 25,000.00 bond. Felony, first charge as an adult. Is there any information any one can share with me on this matter or any comments to share that may help us get though this. It is defiantly a learning exp for my son. and he must choose friend more wisely. And is the law more stricter when the other kid parent is a Sheriff. Help please.

Your son is going to need legal representation. If you cannot afford an attorney talk to the court about a court appointed attorney. It sounds like the whole situation is a misunderstanding but if he is convicted having a felony on his record can be worse.

He has a public defender, I am worried about him not getting proper reperesentation.l and being sent away for just a misunderstanding
amongs friends. if convicted how much time can he receive on something like this?

It really depends on the state and the exact charge. There are minimum sentence requirements that the DA and Judge takes a look at. You will have to do a little research either on the internet or at your local law library to find out.

on this charge thre is little information out there, or tht i can find. not sure the real name for this charge, but before i came to this site for help i was not able to locate any information. on internet on law liabrary
