What are my Rights
I don't know if this is the correct area to post or not but I need to know what my rights are. My fiance and I have been working for a company for over five years. The company sends us across country to do work at various retail stores. We usually travel together but recently the company management changed. Under previous managment, when seperated, we were allowed to choose our partners. My fiance is a recovering alcoholic and previous management made sure he was not sent out with people who influenced him to drink. When management changed, over a year ago, he was sent out with someone who drank constently and came back an alcoholic again. Since it took me over a year to get this problem under control with him and he had been sober for three years now, of course this created relationship problems. But that's not the half of it. The last project we were sent on. He was sent out with a person who he had worked with before and knew did drugs. He was told at the last minute he was going with this person and tried to talk to the boss about his concern but was told they did not want to hear it. Well, two weeks into the project, they were stopped by the police and crack and marijuana were found in the company assigned vehicle. Both my fiance and his partner were charged. My fiance demanded drug testing to help prove the drugs were not his but the arresting agency would not drug test. Of cource the boss is supporting the person he was sent out with because he is "*** kisser". So what rights do we have? If you refuse assignment or partner you will be fired but if you go on project with some stranger and they find drugs or guns or who knows what in the company vehicle you face criminal charges. Can anyone tell me whatl the law is regarding this situation. Also, the company vehicles are assigned the day you are leaving and packed to the max with supplies. So what if another team left something in the vehicle? We have found papers, pill bottles, and other questionable stuff several times when checking the vans for damages before signing responsibility for them. But there is no way with the time limits, etc. to take the vehicle apart and look for illegal substances. Any ideas? Suggestions? Ways to avoid being blamed for a partners crimes?
