I find it humorous when posters accept and condone carelessness and imprecision in other areas while pointing out what they consider to be the same in other's responses regarding the law.

As a school teacher for years upon end before enrolling in law school (I have been very candid in this forum about my admittedly limited expertise as a now second year law student, and not an attorney), I find that having no regard for presentation detracts from the point you are trying to make. I have no doubt your reply is more accurate than is mine. But, to attempt to reflect on my intelligence and interpretation of the posters meaning while careless errors in your own reply go overlooked, is disingenuous at best.
Your post is quite the red herring.

Personally, I'd recommend you follow up with an attorney in the area for specifics in your particular situtation. The bottom of the page also provides additional resources, contact information and if you need it, legal referral information as well. Hope this helps.

Good luck.

I'm going through the samething right now, well, it's a lot bigger than a rent thing though. An out of state garnishment that NC can't honor and my employee is honoring.
I have to take them to court now to get all of my money back and to stop them from garnishing my wages.

Seriously----couldn't the whole situation be avoided by just paying the debt you owe? Surely its cheaper than court. You are willing to pay legal fees, but not a (presumably) rightfully owed debt? I don't get it.

Generally, I believe that's the only way to terminate a court-ordered garnishment when the parties can't (or won't) come to terms. There should be attornies in your area with free or reduced initial consultations that will give you a better idea of the costs involved but bottom line, it's going to cost more $$ out of that paycheck to get this settled. Those referrals at the bottom of the website may be of some use, depending on the nature of the garnishment. (I've found that it never hurts to call.)

Again, good luck.
