Dear taxgirl - Defendant has fled!

He closed his bank account and fled the state of NJ as soon as he took the money. At this point, he won't even respond to the warrant OR pay NJ court fees! I have rec'd phone calls from Canada. But when I called, I can't get through.

I am trying to get him in the NCIC system and have his information published nationwide so that they will contact the Canadian police.

I have contacted his father and he says he is possibly married still. But when I asked his whereabouts, the father said he couldn't help me and he didn't know where he was. Of course, I didn't believe him. When I asked about his mother, the father said he doesn't know her address. And he is a pastor, a spiritual shepherd of the flock. Go figure. But I can't expect a pastor/father would help in the legal arrest of his own son!

So I have to pay a search fee for investigative services on the website to find out if he is married. I do have his SS#, date of birth, and his former driver license number.

Thank you for your comments.

If there is a warrant for his arrest, if he is stopped for anything, like a traffic ticket, he can be detained and extradited. However, for the amount of small claims court, it is a long shot to have him extradited.
