Lightbulb Child Custody Issues

Hi Im a new member seeking help, I am absolutely broken and devastated over my child, he is 16 and we miss each other terribly. I've tried everything I could, I can't afford an attorney, I have a long heartfelt, depressing story without a happy ending, please put a light in my eyes and a smile on my face and happy face on my son. Thanx Sulynn

I don't know if this will help but I have 3 kids by my ex wife and I have been through numerous attornies trying to see my kids as it was court ordered or for custody. Not one has EVER walked into a courtroom with me regardless of how much evidence I had against my ex.

All 3 of my kids came to be begging to live with me so I decided to try to "go it alone". My wife and I drew up the paperwork andfiled it last September. Right now all 3 of my kids live with me and our final hearing is on March 9th. There is a gaurdian ad lidem involved and things are going well. All I can say is that although I do not advise going to court without an attorney, there is not an attorney out there that is LIVING your situation. If you know you are right and would be the better parent, fight until there is no fight left in you. My ex is ordered to provide insurance and she dropped my kids from hers yesterday, then informed me I should be sending her child support even though the kids live with me. She doesn't pay me anything.!! HANG IN THERE!!!

Depending on which state you live in, your 16 year old child is allowed input as to which place he prefers to live. Do you have a legal custody agreement in effect now? Regardless of whether you do or not, have you checked with your local department of children and family services? Many departments across the country have referral services with local attorneys who can help at reduced rates for those with a financial need. At the very least, it is a good place to begin.

Good luck.
