Child support arrears ripoff

This is my first try at this, so hello everyone.
My boys are full grown now. I moved to LA for my husbands health reasons when they were 15 and 17. They stayed with the father. I requested child support to come out of my check every week. A week after DOR advised me my boys were of age and child support was paid, I received a contempt of court notice for PAST DUE child support owed before I requested the wage garnishment.
I was able to show that I only owed half of what he was claiming since my oldest son did not stay in college and moved out. I also showed that my weekly payments showed an amount being paid toward the arrears. This is on a court document that I have a copy of and the DOR rep tried to show the judge.
Well, on Sept 17th a hearing was called to determine the arrears amount. The first judge would not take any action so he went to another one who found me guilty of contempt without looking at anything the DOR rep tried to show him in my defense.
I refuse to pay his $1,300.00 lawyer fees and I will not pay for the months my son was not there or that I already paid throughout the last few years.

This man has gotten away with really putting the screws to me since he can afford a lawyer. Like lying to the court about his wages when I tried to get support from him way back in the day. The judge (same one) just told his lawyer that she knows better than that but did not change anything. They also wouldnt give me child support for the previous year that he would not pay me because the court mixed up my document number!!! I went a whole year with no support from him! I just don't know how to fight this and of course like all of us, cannot afford a $125.00 per hour lawyer. Any ideas??? I cant even find a MASS lawyer get get a free phone consultation.

You might try to sue him in Small Claims Court. You might also try to get a diffrent Judge. Is it too late to appeal the last court hearing? Wow, sound like he is a real JERK! Good Luck!
