Angry Mother in law took my daughter without my permission

My mother in law has visitations with my youngest child and asked me if she can take her to San Diego (we live in bay area) for a week. I said no because I don't feel comfortable with it. I've been calling for the past 3 days to talk to my daughter and have not been able to get a hold of her. I think she took her even though I said no. I have custody of my daughter after a 4 year battle in court terminating gaurdianship. My Mother in law is OBSESSED with my daughter and it really freaks me out. What should I do as of right now? She is supposed to return her to me on Friday.

Terminating guardianship from WHOM? the childs father? The mother-in-law? How did the mother-in-law come to have custody of your child?

Consult the description of your mother-in-law's legal rights that outline what she can and cannot do for "visitation". You were fine with your mother-in-law apparently parenting your child full time for an unspecified amount of time, but now you want to assert your preferences? Clarify that, please.

Bottom line: If you believe someone who has legal visitation with your child is in violation of the SPECIFIC terms of the legal agreement made in court ( not verbal agreements made outside of the court room ) then immediately notify the police ( if your daughter still isn't returned shortly) and of course, immediately notify the courts. Ask for an emergency hearing if necessary.

Be advised---if the court preferred your mother-in-law to you to have guardianship at one point, don't assume the court is going to look at you with any great amount of sympathy. That being said, a court order is just that--a court order. If someone--anyone--is violating it, notify the court.
