insurance settlment help!!

I was rear ended by a drunk driver at a stop light back in December of 08. My car was totaled and i suffered whiplash and had some lower back problems as well. I just completed my treatment with the chiropractor last month so it was about a 7mo recovery period. My girlfriend was in the car and only went to the chiropractor for 3mo and was offered 2500. What should be a fair amount for me to expect? i just bills paid and some extra as i had to buy a new car and was so close to paying that off and i could be saving money with no car payment but now i have one. I was thinking about asking for 7000, reasonable enough??
