insurance settlment help!!

I was in a car accident back in December of 08 and was rear ended by a drunk driver at a red light. The car was totaled, i had whiplash and lower back problems and have been going to the chiropractor for 7mo and just completed my treatment. My girlfriend was in the car as well and she went to the chiropractor for about 3mo and was offered $2500 and now they will be giving me an offer soon. WHat is a reasonable amount to settle for? I dont want a crazy amount of money i just want bills paid and some extra as i had to buy a car and i was so close to paying my other car off and that would have saved me so much not having a car payment but now i have one. I was thinking somewhere around 7,000??
