Atty May be Pulling Our Leg

First hello to all. I usually just read forums without adding my opinions, but now I think I need some help, so here goes.

My wife and I were in a car accident on October 27, 2006. My claim has been settled, but my wife's is still pending. After all her treatment, we finally were able to submit our claim to the insurance company thru our atty. He originally told us it would take about a week for a response. We called back after a week, and he said that the insurance company was not responding and we should give them a month. If no response w/in 1 month. He would sue the insurance company for us and we should allow a response up to one month. My wife called him 2 weeks ago and NOW he's telling us that it may take up to six months before we get a response. For some reason, I feel this atty is pulling our leg and is stalling for some reason. Can anyone make a suggestion?
