Default Document preparation businesses

Hello everyone!

I am trying to find information for the state of Nevada regarding document preparation businesses. Since these type of businesses do not provide legal information specific to ones situation and only fill in factual info provided by the customer this isn't UPL, correct? What about filing forms with the Court for customers when an appearance isn't necessary?

I've searched the Nevada Revised Statutes, Westlaw and the Internet but, haven't been able to find much. If anyone could point me in the right direction for information so that I can educate myself, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Most of the time, the service you are talking about is provided by a paralegal, at least. You need to consult with an attorney about the laws in your state to see if what you are proposing is considered "practicing law". When I was in college, I went to the court to ask questions for a friend and the judge was angry because he said I was "practicing law", although court wasn't in session and my friend was a civil complaintant--not even the defendant. You need to proceed carefully. The cost of an hour of an attorney's time would be worth the cost of defending yourself later.
