Small business start up while unemployed
I live in Ohio & have been unemployed since January 7th. I decided I would like to start an internet business. By problem is that I'm not sure how to make the transition from starting a new business that is not yet making money & still collecting unemployment until I do make money. I am not trying to collect unemployment while also making money at the business....but I'm concerned that if I let unemployment know that I'm self-employed that they will disallow my unemployment before I actually start making money. I have considered putting the company in my husband's name until it does become profitable to avoid this issue. Will that work or is there another way I should go about this? I want to reiterate that I don't want to take advantage of the system, I just don't want to shoot myself in the foot! I am open to all suggestions.
