The cold water line came out of the connection in the bathroom under the sink. The water was 3 inches deep in the bathroom when I discovered it
and I turned the water off at the main connection of the house. The water spread all over the whole house. I called the builder and he said he would get the plumber to come out. It was after midnight. The plumber came at 730am the next morning. He said that his son had done the plumbing and that he had not tighten it. He said the builder had the some problem in another house he built. The builder told me to use paper towels and a sponge to clean the water up. I called him around 1am and told him that there was too much water and he had to get someone to clean it up. He called Rainbow restoration Company. They have removed all the carpet and padding in the whole house and have put fans and dehumidifiers in the house to dry it out. They have pulled out some of the baseboards. They are suppose to return in the morning and pull out all of the insulation from under the house. I think they should also do the following: 1. pull out the linoleum in the bathroom and replace it as I pulled the linoleum back and the wood was wet under it. Also pull out the linoleum in the kitchen and laundry room and replace it. 2. remove all baseboards in the house. They have only removed the bathroom and the laundry room base boards. 3. fix the dry wall in the bathroom It shows water damage at the bottom 4. take out the cabinet under the sink where the water line was broken. It was full of water and so were the drawers. There is an opening where the large drain pipe is in the cabinet and the water has to be under the cabinet. 5. Remove all the staples on the floor that was used to put the ruined carpet down. 6. Remove all the old tack strips that were used to lay the original carpet down and lay new ones. Since I was in the house for only 6 days when this happen is there anyway I can get out of buying the house? Is there a lemon law for houses? What leveraged do I have with the builder to get him to complete this work? |
