fraudulent billing

hello all, i`am new to this site. not real sure how to use it. hope this is right. i received my elec/gas bill today from dte energy here in mich, and see they want me to pay 1800.00 dollars in gas and elec bill for a home i sold over 4 yrs ago. ??? i dont know anything about this i paid my final bills when i sold the home, and moved. drove by the home today on the way to work for the 1st time in 4 yrs, neighbor told me the guy i sold it to lost it in forclosure. why would dte be bothering me with this? and do i have any leagal recourse against dte? they dont seem to want to talk to me, or take calls, or look into this matter.

Go to their office and sit there until you get to speak to a manager. If the manager doesn't fix the problem, do not pay the bill but wait until they come after you. Since it is not your property, it shouldn't bother you. Perhaps you should notify the bank that owns the property now. If they take you to court, it is called frivolous litigation... they will get to pay your legal fees. If they attempt to shut off power to where you really live, you'll have to see a judge to stop them. But I'd see the local newspaper first.... maybe today.
