a banking issue

I have recently been involved in a mystery shopping scam. The fraudulent check that was sent to me bounced. My bank is wanting me to pay for the check. My argument is why did the bank let me cash on it only after it being in the bank for only two days, when they have a policy to hold some types of checks for five business days?? The amount of the check was for a large amount.

Your bank cashed the check as a courtesy to YOU--meaning they trusted you as their customer. You want to find fault with them for that? If YOU think that they shouldn't have cashed the funds, why didn't you take it upon yourself not to SPEND the money or touch the money until it was apparent the check had cleared? If you had any question, why didn't you simply wait until the check had cleared? Also, if the balance in the account at the time is equal or greater than the amount of the check presented, they do not put a hold on the check.

It's their fault you couldn't figure out that someone handing you a large check for next and then expecting some of the money to be sent BACK to them is a scam?

You are responsible for the amount of the check as well as any fees incurred.

Any time a business asks you to PAY for their services, it is a scam.

Is there a reason you think the bank is at fault? In any regard, unfortunately, they are not responsible for a scammers evil or for your naivety.
