Angry Bank Problem...

Hi,,
I need help..
We went to Chase bank to open a Checking account. They asked for 2 IDs, My wife gave a Florida Drivers Lic. and her work ID, I gave my Florida Drivers Lic. and my Navigation Lic. (Captains Lic.) from Puerto Rico. The first question he asked,
1. Are you US. Citizen? I said, all puertorricans are citizens....
Then he said ok,,, picked up the phone and called Chase bank central(I guess, or his boss) and ask if we accept lic. from P.R., I dont know what the person said in the other line but the reply saying but is from Puerto Rico... during this I gave him P.R. Drivers Lic. and said we dont cant accept this. I gave him my Social Security Card.. and he still didnt accept it... I showed him my CHASE VISA CARD. and he said I am sorry.
But what about my Fl drivers lic. and still didnt want to accept it.... Until I had no choice to leave..... Everybody was looking and I really felt bad.. like if I was a ilegal immigrant or something...I went to another bank and didnt ask any question and accepted my P.R. Drivers lic. like any another lic from any other state of the US...Why my wife with her Fl lic. and her work ID was ok,, even work ID is not government ID.. but I provided 3 ID all from US Government and this wasnt ok???
Can I do something???

I would send a registered letter to headquarters of the bank, or the bank president and explain to him or her what happened when you went to the bank--include the names of people with whom you dealt and the names of those who refused to provide you with service.

Then, they will either write back and tell you why your credentials were not adequate, or he will offer you an apology for the way you were treated. I would expect an answer as to why you were discriminated against. They must provide you a reason for being declined.

Send all correspondence registered mail, with return receipt requested, so they know you are serious about getting a response.

Good luck.

Well I called a lawyer, and he told me to call OCC and the OCC told me to make a formal letter to the bank and to the OCC. Also he told me that under federal bank law or what ever he said, it is ilegal to reject P.R. Government ID...

Which is precisely why you are asking for them to articulate in writing what their position is. They probably won't admit they discriminated against you which means they will bend over backward to accomodate you in the future.

Can't imagine the bank to admit that they discriminated someone because of their origin.

This two bit spam peddler has been at this for months with different names. No idea why the ADMIN allows it to continue without barring the member. It is just spam and is against terms of service.

As I stated, they probably will not admit that was the basis for their refusing him service. However, they will have to articulate SOME response---and that is the goal.
