I had been banking for 5+ years and mostly through ATMs. I often make big deposits at ATMs and hardly need to see the tellers.
Here is my story: I deposited $600.00 cash at one of the Wells Fargo ATMs. I got a letter saying that my deposit was incorrect. They found less money in the envelope than what I deposited. They claimed that they had dual control system to verify the deposit. So basically my claim was denied and refused to do anything further after the conclusion of their investigation. I got $560 reverse because according to them, there was only $40 in the deposit envelope. I really did deposit $600 at one of their ATMs. I sold an item for $575 cash two days prior and added $25 out of my pocket to make it $600 total deposit. Please help me. This is a lot of money for me since it's more than 2 weeks of work. My only possible option: If I file my claim through a small court, what are the procedures and how long will it take to get a court date? Is there a chance of winning? Thank You Very Much in advance for any of your inputs. UPDATED: I came to the bank branch today. The banker told me that they had BRINKS serviced and processed all ATM transactions at their location. Nonetheless, the dual control system was still in effect at the time. But they could not do anything since BRINKS was the one that counted the deposit money. |

It is going to be your word against theirs. I think it is going to be an uphill battle. You have no proof that you deposited the $600.00 that you claim (security camera showing many bills going into the envelope and being deposited through atm etc.)
I would not deposit money in the atm anymore esp. large sums of money just to avoid a situation like this. |
