I'm not sure if this belongs under "family law"; if not, please advise and I'll move the post.
I have a problem with an IRA account that I'm trying to close / roll over. The problem is that one of the holdings in the account is a now defunct real estate venture (fund), and the bank is telling me that they can't close the account until I sign a form indicating that I'm abandoning this holding. The thing is, the case against the fund manager has made its way through the courts, and monies are supposed to be distributed over the next 5 years. I'm thinking the bank doesn't want me closing things down, because they're charging me $8 a month in "custodial fees". Is there anything I can do to get the title transfered on this thing? Thanks for any info... |
