Interesting thing about fighting for rights----the premise behind doing so is a consideration of the issue of while anyone is free to fight for anything they wish, it is lawful? In other words, I can fight for my right to stand on the front porch and yodel all night in the direction of my neighbors windows. This doesn't mean it is a LEGAL or PROTECTED right.
Another example for you:
I've watched people online "fight" for other people's "right" to do egregious acts, commit hoaxes, and even defraud people out of money, calling it "their online buddies lives" that they are entitled to. Unfortunately, it is NOT a legal right to do something such as I witnessed---someone actually taking the photograph of another persons dying baby in intensive care and posting it on HER web page, calling it her Dear Bebe that died, yada yada, complete with stories of how the father of the child abandoned her, etc. Flip to the gals NEXT web page, and you see an opulent home, lavishly adorned with expensive items, along with a description of how this was her home, painted her DEAD child's favorite color, etc. Unfortunately, the child NOR the home was hers. When offended people stepped in to LEGALLY have this offensive material removed from the Internet, she cried "STALKERS!!" "HARASSMENT!!" "SLANDER" ( although it was true--NOTE: Slander has to be UNTRUE to be slander) because she was being denied her right to do something ILLEGAL, like parade around the Internet with untrue stories of other peoples dead babies, property, and lives, even legally changing her name to someone she desperately wished to be like.
Contrast that, of course, with allegations of child abuse, pedophilia, adultery, etc----those, are slander and are actionable since they did, in fact, never happen.
Fighting for your "RIGHT" to commit illegal acts is NOT a right. Fighting against actual slander and harassment, usage of someones actual name in vulgarities, IS actionable. STOPPING someone from doing something ILLEGAL such as advertise for illegal spyware to hack Internet accounts, or stealing photos of other peoples dying children is NOT illegal.
Attacking someones morality, accusing them of things such as terrorism, child abuse and neglect, etc IS. See the difference? Amazing how many people do not.
So, the answer to your question is---if the "right" for which you are fighting actually IS a protected right under the law, by all means fight. But, if you are uncertain of the validity of your position, consult with an attorney who can advise you of the legality of your position BEFORE you waste a lot of time and effort for no reason whatsoever. And, for the love of God, DON'T waste YEARS <OMG> of your life "fighting" for a cause that not only has no merit, but was, in fact done and over with long ago.
Refusal to go on with YOUR life is perhaps the greatest tragedy of all.
I wish you well.
