Default Need some QUICK Advice!

hi

here's my scenerio...

i was working with a US based company, as an "independent contractor", from outside of the US. i am english and do NOT live in the US. i was selling product into europe for this company and was paid commission only. i had no employment contract. i never sold any product in the US.

i received a fixed amount per month as advances against commission to be earned into my bank account outside of the US. i also had a lump-sum advance of $10,000 which was also against commission to be earned.

earlier in the year i stopped working for the company, and we arranged that i would pay the lump-sum amount of $10,000 back over a period of time in installments of $2,000 per month. unfortunately, since then i have hit a bit of a stumbling block and havent been able to keep up with the payments after paying, with no problem, the first $4,000 over the first two months that i left.

let me state clearly, i have every intention to pay the money back. i am a God-fearing, honest person. i simply cant do it right now...

the owner of the company is a tough cookie at the best of times and has now threatened that he will find 'other ways' to get the money back. i know he LOVES his lawyers and wouldnt think twice about getting them involved if he thought it would help.

i guess what i am asking is - can he indeed take some kind of 'legal' action...?

can anybody shed some light?

thanks,
mike
