Religious Discrimination - What to do?
Hi,
I started to work for this company in September 2006 and originally I am from Germany. My visa status is a J-1 Trainee Visa.
But here is the deal, three employees, the CEO, his Personal Assistant and the Executive Vice President made antagonistic comments about the religion I belive in. The thing is, they didn't know that this is my religion. I would have liked to talk to the HR Manager but unforunately the Personal Assistent of the CEO was in charge of me and also in charge of the HR in this office. Therefore I had no contact person regarding to this problem.
I didn't mention that they discriminated my religion, because it was obvious that they disliked my religion and therefore I was afraid to loose my job if I say so.
I felt threatened in my religious freedom by these colleagues.
As far as I know the law forbids making statements against any religion at the work place.
If anybody could give me some legal advice on that so I can see if there is a possiblity to sue this company.
Thanks in advance and feel free to contact me with any questions.
Best,
Franziska
